Cheyenne is thus far
the only German Shepherd in Canada to earn her CKC Advanced Herding
Title. She is one of those dogs that has been a pleasure to breed,
own, and work! She earned her Advanced title with 2 High GSD in
Trial and in her third leg earned a "perfect" score
on her 150 foot drive! As far as I know this has never been done
before.
Cheyenne
is the dog that started it all in Herding for me. She is a very
special dog and one I will always cherish and be in amazement
with what all she has accomplished. I am humbled that I got to
own and train her. I stopped in at a Sheep herding instinct test
when she was 6 months of age and decided to see what she had.
The tester was very impressed with her work ethic, herding instinct
and love for the work. She commented that this type of dog would
go ‘all the way’ in herding if she was given a chance.
Cheyenne
was bred by me and was born in ‘hard circumstances”
having had to be bottle fed as a pup. Even then…she showed
her non-stop attitude! Many thought she would not make it…but
she was a fighter right from the beginning! Thus her registered
name “Stands With A Fist.”

I am
so thankful that I followed through with her love of working stock.
She never stopped learning and was my ‘right hand’
man on the farm for many, many years. In fact, Cheyenne is the
reason I started my own flock of sheep. She loved to work sheep
and needed to be on them regularly. She always gave me her all
and saved my life once when I was fixing the ram pen and the ram
decided to come at me (my back was to the ram). I turned around
just as Cheyenne jumped in front of the ram and grabbed his face.
The ram then took her to the ground. I was so mad that we both
went after him! A few weeks later (after I fattened him up) her
and the other dogs enjoyed him immensely!

After
Cheyenne’s trailing career we spent a lot of time together
stock handling at different trials. She LOVED doing this work!!!
We were quite popular at CKC trials, AKC trials and even some
big border collie trials. Throughout her career Cheyenne has had
many injuries and thus has a fused spine. She now sleeps a lot
and enjoys the luxury of being a house dog! She turned 10 in January
2006. There will never be another dog like Cheyenne and she holds
a very special place in my heart !!
