G Litter
"G"
Litter: German Shepherd Puppies: 5 Females, 1 Male
A few photos from the puppy journals:
Our Faith
who is out of our Tikka & Brinks was bred to
Lobo
von Schraderhaus
Faith is a beautiful dark sable who is a lot like her mom,
Tikka.
She is OFA Good hips and normal elbows.
Information
previously posted for this 2010 Litter:
Faith
whelped her litter last Friday (13th!!). She had
8 puppies, but sadly, we lost 2. One was HUGE (twice the
size of the other puppies). Both pups we lost got stuck
in the birthing canal and were in there for too long. Up
to this point, Faith did extremely well in her whelping.
She did it with ease and knew exactly what to do even though
this was her first litter. It is amazing to see/watch the
natural instincts come out when a female has a litter of
puppies. I was praying that Faith would be like her dam,
Tikka, in her care for her puppies and I have not been disappointed!
Even when the vet had to stick his arm inside her to pull
out one of the pups, Faith was so incredibly patient and
good natured!
So,
we have 6 German Shepherd puppies. 3 sable and 3 black/tan.
1 boy and 5 girls. This is the first time I have
had so many females! In all my past litters I have actually
had the opposite. Most believe, it is the sire who determines
the sexes of the puppies and the dam who determines the
number in the litter.
I
guess it is time to start the Puppy Diaries!! Click

We
are very excited to announce our “G” litter!
The dam of this litter is our Faith. Faith is the girl we
kept from our “F” litter out of Tikka and Brinks.
Tikka has produced fantastic pups/dogs for us and we are looking
forward to carrying that on through her daughter. Faith reminds
me so much of her mom and nothing could please me more. She
is a super social dog that loves people and other dogs. When
Faith was a puppy I would describe her as one that loves life.
She showed this exuberance as a young pup and it has grown
as she has become an adult. She is a dark sable with OFA normal
elbows and OFA GOOD hips. She has started her herding training
and will be taking out a bit of time to whelp this litter
and then right back to training and trialing. The sheep are
watched closely by Faith when they are in their pen and she
loves to spend time working them. Faith is a strong, steady
dog that takes her work seriously, yet is full of fun and
joking when she is supposed to be relaxing! Faith loves to
play with other dogs and it is a joy to watch her engage in
her antics with them.
I
recently returned from a trip to California where her brother
“Feros” better known as Axel participated in Dogstock
2010 and his training in the protection phase of
Schutzhund. Axel is well loved by those who know him and they
are amazed when this goofy, fun loving dog gets on the field
and becomes a serious, well respected, intense worker! His
bark and hold is ferocious and helpers have described him
as an exceptional worker with a bark that makes the ground
shake. Axel is OFA Good hips.
Faith’s
other brother Flex is certified through the R.C.M.P.
as a dual purpose dog, working as an explosive detection and
security dog. You will find Flex working at the Ferry Terminal
in Nanaimo, B.C. You will find another brother of Faith’s
(named Frisco) out using his nose in the tracking field. Frisco
has is Canadian Kennel Club TD and TDX tracking title and
his owner is now training him for his U.S. titles and his
Variable Surface Tracking Title. Both Flex and Frisco are
OFA GOOD hips with normal elbows.
Faith’s
only sister is located on Vancouver Island working in the
agility and obedience ring. You will find Faith’s
other siblings as family companions enjoying tracking and
other activities. Not everyone will x-ray and certify their
dogs hips/elbows, especially when there are no problems. We
are thankful that those who chose to x-ray have had such good
results, just like Faith. Tikka has produced excellent hips
in her progeny and this is a blessing. We have another female
out of Tikka who we x-rayed the same time as Faith who is
out of her second litter, named Winnie and she also has OFA
Good hips and normal elbows.
Faith’s sire is Arek von Ander Tal (Brinks)
and he is certified through the R.C.M.P. as an explosive detection
dog. Brinks spent a lot of his time working at the
Ferry Terminals in B.C. as well as the ports working for the
Cruise Ships. Brinks is a very social dog that can also turn
into a serious worker when needed and a fun loving dog that
gets along with other dogs with no issues. One of the things
that attracted me to Brinks as a sire was is ability to be
loose with over 20 other german shepherds (including intact
males) as a picnic his owners held each summer. Brinks is
a very dark sable and has produced some outstanding pups/dogs.
Brinks brother, Alon vom Adler Tal has his SchH 3 and has
represented Canada at the WUSV. He has video on You
Tube where he takes the sleeve away from the helper
during one of his SchH routines.
The sire we have chosen for Faith is Lobo v Schraderhaus.
I have visited Jean at Schraderhaus on several occasions and
fell in love with Lobo’s sire Lux who has his SchH 3!
I first met Lux shortly after he arrived from Germany. He
greeted me with enthusiasm and a joy that here was someone
that might play ball with him. He tried to hand me his ball
over the kennel fence. I was taken with his social attitude
and sweet disposition. I was equally impressed with Lobo’s
dam. Again, a very social dog that greeted people with joy
and enthusiasm. Lobo’s dam is now 11 years old and still
going strong! You can read more about Lobo and his lines at
